On Sunday 11th Sep 2022 three Glasgow Moggies met with the West Coast Classic Car Club at Dobbies, Ayr.

An interesting and mixed convoy, ranging from a Bentley to an Austin Maxi, travelled at a steady 50mph through the rolling countryside of the A70.

The cars then proceeded onto the A76 at Cumnock and headed uphill towards the Scottish Lead Mining Museum at Wanlockhead.

Wanlockhead, Dumfries and Galloway, is the highest village in Scotland. No trouble for the trusty a-series engine though! Most of the group made use of the tea room for a spot of lunch. The tea room evidently doesn’t usually get so much trade on a Sunday. They ran out of milk and had to dash out to milk a coo (or visit the nearest pub or shop) to get some.

One Moggy, Vincent, set off after lunch to have some drone footage shot of him, flanked on either side by magnificent hills and countless sheep. You can view the footage on Instagram. It has to be said some of the sheep were rather reckless thrill seekers, obviously intent on putting 7″ drum brakes to the test. Brake fade anyone?

Sheep slaughter avoided, by the time all the vehicles had made their way back home, from a lovely drive, the heavens had well and truly opened. C’est la vie.
