On 22nd & 23rd June 2024 the Scottish MG clubs held their annual “Gathering of the Clans” meet.

This year it was at Grampian motor museum, Afford, in Aberdeenshire.

Glasgow Moggie’s Vice Chairman, Allan Methven Headed, north on the Friday in his MGB. He says “…I joined Glen from the MG Fun group who was starting the climb over the Cairn o’ Mount onwards to Afford, where I then joined the Stirling MG group who had just arrived behind us.

The meet had over 80 MG’s from across Scotland. It was a standard British summer weather mix of sun and showers, but it didn’t worry the crowd!

The day included a selection of driving skill tests, Nigel gave it his best shot in the Midget! A lap of honour and a lot of bleathering! The Museum was open to all attendees which was very nice to see, even had a Morris Minor on a raised platform for closer inspection.

Balmoral Castle

On Sunday morning 50+ gathered for a drive from Afford to Balmoral, where the group had been given permission to park the cars along the front of the castle for photographs. With not a cloud in the sky the group departed following two routes. What a lovely part of the country and the castle was stunning!

Leaving Balmoral it was south through Glenshee and re joined the dual carriage way at Stanley north of Perth.

Another great weekend away.”
