Earlier this year Allan Methven, our Vice-Chairman, was approached by a TV producer who wanted to use his Series II Morris Minor (Bertie) for filming.

Allan duly obliged. Bertie was subsequently transported to the south of England within a covered transporter for a role in Sky History’s The Guilty Innocent with Christopher Eccleston.
The series examines historic possible miscarriages of justice.
In 1962 James Hanratty, known as the A6 Murderer, was the last person executed in the United Kingdom.

He had been found guilty of the 1961 murder of Michael Gregsten and the rape and attempted murder of his girlfriend, Valerie Storie.
At the time of the attack Gregsten and Storie had been courting within Gregsten’s 1956 birch grey coloured, four-door Series II Morris Minor. Which is where Bertie comes in.

Allan said, “it has been really interesting learning about the case. It was also pretty cool receiving photographs of Bertie in action on set, which will be filed away with his paperwork. I’m pleased he was taken good care of while off on his TV adventure.”
If you’d like to learn more about the story and see Bertie in action can watch the Guilty Innocent on Sky History.
