Membership Terms & Conditions

A. ELIGIBILITY

  • Membership is open to all persons who own, or have the use of, any classic car originally designed pre-1980.
  • Membership is priced per household.

B. START AND DURATION OF MEMBERSHIP

  • The Membership year runs 1st Oct – 30th September. 
  • Membership starts on the day payment of the membership has been received in the account of Glasgow Moggies and falls due for renewal on 1st Oct each year thereafter.
  • In case payment for renewal of the membership has not been received, members may receive a reminder by email or SMS/WhatsApp. In the event of non-payment at renewal membership will be terminated.
  • Membership can be ended prior to the end date in cases mentioned under {E}.

C. MEMBERSHIP FEES

  • Membership fees are set at £15 per annum to be paid by BACS (bank transfer). Account details will be provided to you and must not be made public.
  • If you join on or after 1st April on any given year the initial membership fee is reduced to £10. Thereafter reverting to £15 on 1st Oct upon renewal. 
  • Affiliated and international membership is £5.50 per year per individual. Payable via PayPal invoice. Renewal is due on 1st Oct each year, regardless of when the member joined. Affiliated & international members may not vote on club related matters.
  • Membership fees shall be reviewed annually. They may only be increased by way of vote of existing Members at a club meeting, with a simple majority required to pass. 

D. RIGHTS

  • Both the individual Member and Glasgow Moggies shall have the right to terminate any Membership within 14 days of payment being received, without giving any reason for doing so. In these circumstances a full refund will be issued to the account the funds were received from.
  • Members (except overseas members) may vote on club related matters at club meetings.

E. END OF MEMBERSHIP/MEMBER CONDUCT

  • The membership ends if the membership period has ended and the member has not renewed membership.
  • In case membership fees due are not paid, Glasgow Moggies have the right to terminate the membership of the member involved.
  • In case a member engages in activities that may harm the interests of the Glasgow Moggies, or in case a member acts in a way that could bring the club into disrepute, Glasgow Moggies withhold the right to end the membership of the member involved with no right of appeal. This will be at the reasonable discretion of the Membership Secretary. In such circumstances no refund will be due. 
  • Members acknowledge that any voluntary activities they engage in, such as erecting flagpoles, marquees, marshalling vehicles etc are done so entirely at their own risk. If a member believes any activity is unsafe and puts them at risk they should refuse to carry it out.
  • Any member that behaves in an unacceptable manner towards any other member, (i.e contrary to Scots Law etc) will have their membership terminated. For the avoidance of doubt this behaviour also includes abusive behaviour towards and bullying and harassment of any other members.
  • Any member has the right to terminate his or her membership before the formal end of the membership period. Termination has to be sent in writing to the Membership Secretary via the online contact form and does not constitute any right of reimbursement of membership fees.

What data do we collect?

We collect the following data:

  • Personal identification information (Name, email address, phone number etc))
  • Details of your vehicle (make, model, registration, colour etc)

How do we collect your data?

You directly provide us with most of the data we collect. We collect data and process data when you:

  • Join via online membership form
  • Provide your details to an existing member and request to join 
  • Photographs taken at club events, or provided by You

How will we use your data?

We collect your data so that we can:

  • Contact you by phone, SMS, WhatsApp and email about classic car events, meets, runs, shows etc 
  • Provide other members with your contact details as We deem appropriate for the purpose of coordinating events, runs etc
  • Provide relevant event organisers with your details (for example, to register you and your vehicle for a classic car show)
  • Publish web reports and social media posts of club activity. These will not generally include publishing details such as your full name and will not include your address or telephone number.

We will share your data with third parties as required in order to register you and your vehicle for events you have stated you wish to attend.

We may share your details with third party companies we have agreements with in respect of club members receiving a discount from them, as is required by third party companies to verify your Glasgow Moggies membership and discount entitlement. We will not sell your details or pass them on to any third party for the purposes of marketing.

How do we store your data?

We securely store your data on personal electronic devices (mobile phones) and on internet based “cloud” applications such as Google Drive, iCloud, Outlook etc for the purposes of email etc. These are accessed by the individuals responsible for running the club.

We will keep your personal data until such time as you request to leave the group, or are removed from it due to non-payment of membership fees. Upon occasions will delete your data. Individuals may retain your contact details for private use if you agree.

Marketing

We may send you emails featuring club merchandise and forward on club discounts you are eligible for from third parties that we have partnership agreements with.

What are your data protection rights?

We would like to make sure you are fully aware of all of your data protection rights. Every user is entitled to the following:

The right to access – You have the right to request copies of your personal data. We may charge you a small fee (£5) for this service. Details will be provided electronically.

The right to rectification – You have the right to request that We correct any information you believe is inaccurate. You also have the right to request We complete the information you believe is incomplete.

The right to erasure – You have the right to request that We erase your personal data, under certain conditions.

The right to restrict processing – You have the right to request that We restrict the processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.

The right to object to processing – You have the right to object to Our processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.

The right to data portability – You have the right to request that We transfer the data that we have collected to another organisation, or directly to you, under certain conditions.
