Sunday May 14th 2023, Bridge of Allan
We had a strong turnout of members for the Stirling & District Classic Car Show 2023. No fewer than ten members, displaying nine Morris Minors and a MkV Ford Cortina, made the journey to Strathallan Games Park. This was despite weather forecasts ranging wildly from dry all day, to 80% chance of rain all day!

We would have had another Moggy there, however unfortunately one was besieged by last minute rear brake problems and was unable to make it.
We travelled from all over; from Glasgow, Largs, Cardross and Edinburgh to name but a few. All made it there (almost) without any issues.
Upon arrival it was found one car had an oil leak from the rocker cover and had been misfiring. Caused by a “classic” garage that fitted the wrong gasket and a ballast type ignition coil! Thankfully other members were on hand and the correct cork gasket and non-ballast coil were fitted once the Moggy had cooled down, meaning it could motor home trouble free at the end of the day. Special thanks to Gary, who provided two spare parts at the last minute to two different members this weekend!

Our club stand for the show was adjacent to the Scottish Branch MMOC and directly opposite some very nice Wolseley 1500s. It was our first opportunity to display our new club banners and we are delighted with how they looked.
Several hundred vehicles of all types – most of them classics – were on display. Thankfully the day remained mostly dry. Only a light drizzle of rain fell from the overcast sky for a brief period. It didn’t dampen spirits.

Everyone in attendance enjoyed the day, remaining until the end. It was also a great opportunity to make new contacts within the classic car scene. As a result we also gained two new members.
The next big trip for us as a club is the Lake District.
